In all buildings which use gas for heating or cooking purposes, leaking natural gas or liquefied gas can explode when a certain concentration (LEL) is reached.
J. Dittrich Elektronic developed a gas indicator system (GMS-H) that detects these kinds of leakages in time and triggers an alarm especially for residential homes.
The GMS-H gas indicator system comprises one or two gas measuring systems MF12-H and a limit monitor GWZ-2H.
With the help of a semiconductor sensor, the gas measuring systems determine how high a percentage of the LEL of methane or propane has been reached in the ambient air and supply these measured values to the limit monitor.
Starting from a certain threshold, the limit monitor will trigger an alarm. Downstream devices will initiate suitable measures, in particular cutting off the gas line by means of a solenoid valve.
One gas measuring system should preferably be mounted near the furnace or stove, the other at the point of entry of the main gas line into the building.
